This is the third in a series of discussions homing in on one of the common themes emerging from a recent group in which we shared our individual experiences of chronic pain. Giving ourselves permission to speak openly about this often hidden subject proved to be therapeutic. Simply tapping whilst talking, listening and being part of an empathetic group with similar issues gave us a sense of release which was reflected in a reduction in the perception of pain in our bodies.
Today we will be talking about the feelings of grief associated with our pain: sadness about opportunities lost or potentially not available in the future. Feelings of loss - of movement, of abilities and physical functions; the loss of aspects of our human relationships because of the way pain can limit interaction and communal activities; loss of clarity and sense of control because of the effects of pain killers - and so much more. A chance to talk openly, tap together and soothe the emotional pain that can amplify the underlying physical pain.
Visit the Living with Pain Support Page to continue the discussion.
